I didn't enjoy it

I bought this book for two reasons. First, it had positive reviews:) But also because the table of contents showed a wider number of subjects than the rest of books (e.g. classic control theory but also digital control, Lyapunov stability, optimal control, and some bits of fuzzy, neural, and adaptive control).

The problem is that the book is boring. Nise's Control System Engineering is much more readable.

Regarding the introduction of non-linear, optimal, robust, and adaptive control I think that the best is too go to the specialised sources.

this book is well written and it covers many aspects of control theory. the detail given is more than sufficient for an undergrad student. especially when it comes to doing the problems by hand, this book gives very good detailed worked examples.
books like norman nise give more matlab examples but students are required to do problems by hand in exams and homeworks. this book helps by giving more worked examples where matlab is not used.

Readable, Applicable & Valueable

When my friends ask me how to reach an audience in Facebook, I always say, “That's exactly what people trust Facebook to do,.. To automatically filter only what they want to see. You just have to provide content that is immensely popular with lots of people, and make sure this people include many of your target audience’s favourite friends”.
So, this a good title, describing exactly what you’ll be reading for the next two hours; namely, how to cheat - well not exactly ‘cheat’, but how to optimise your behaviour to help Facebook realise how urgently your audience wants to see your content, above and before the thousands of other, competing stories.
Where to begin, ..explaining so many new concepts to those who are innocent of the hidden complexity involved in the commercial exploitation of a social network?
Immediately, the distinction between “Reach” and “Engagement” both enticed and worried me, as a complete beginner to digital marketing. But the statistics were fascinating, and the “timing” factors won my attention among new ideas I that hadn't considered; but I also started worrying - what kind of tools exist for measuring one’s “Reach” and “Engagement” if I embark on the challenge?
However, before I reached part two I was relaxed; the answers to my questions, and all new concepts are introduced clearly in simple language, and unfolded before us in a natural logical sequence. GOOD BUT NEEDS TWEAKING

I was impressed with the variety of different recipes in this collection. I like that the book did not center only one type of protein to make a meal. Chicken as well as ground beef, steak and shrimp were key players in recipes making it appeal to many appetites.

I am an experienced cook (cocking for well over 50 years). I did not try these recipes but I plan to try a few soon. I did read through them all and they sound like good recipes with promise.

My main critique is with the details. In recipes the size of cans were not detailed, such as a "can of diced tomatoes" needed for Cheesy Pasta Skillet. Is that a 15 oz. can or a 28 oz. can?

In Salmon Patties how large is that can of Salmon?

In Pizza Pasta, exactly how large is "1 package pepperonis"?

In one recipe Italian Seasoning is used and in another Dry Italian Seasoning. One recipe calls for Sriracha Sauce and in another it calls for Sriracha.

If more attention were paid to these details I feel that this book could truly be more useful to the very inexperienced cook.

I highly recommend this cookbook for anyone you want to feel comfortable in the kitchen.

Don't bother, it's not really about how type and design influence behavior

Just picked this up from the mailbox today. Meh. Not worth the money (If I had looked at this in a bookstore, I would have put it down after 20 seconds and walked away). The title is a complete cheat, there is no analysis of how behavior is influenced. Quite a lot of the samples are not in english, although the book is in english. So you can't really interpret those messages, part of what makes type work is READING it. A lot of the images seem like student exercises. It's going back today.

"Leonard M. Jessup" is the Dean of the College of Business and Economics, and the Philip L. Kays Distinguished Professor of MIS, at Washington State University. Professor Jessup received his B.A. in Information and Communication Studies in 1983 and his M.B.A. in 1985 from California State University, Chico, where he was voted Outstanding MBA Student. He received his Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior and Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona in 1989. He is a member of the Association for Information Systems and Alpha Iota Delta, associate editor for the "Management Information Systems Quarterly," a member of the Editorial Board for Small Group Research, was program cochair for the Association for Information Systems Americas Conference, and is conference cochair for the International Conference on Information Systems, to be hosted by WSU and held in Seattle in December of 2003.

In addition, he has held administrative, and/or reviewer responsibilities for a number of other research journals, research conferences, and book publishers. He teaches in various areas of Management and Management Information Systems and has published, presented, and consulted on electronic commerce, computer-supported collaborative work, technology-supported teaching and learning, and on related topics. "Joseph S. Valacich," the Marian E. Smith Presidential Endowed Chair and the George and Carolyn Hubman Distinguished Professor in MIS, joinedthe faculty at Washington State University in 1996. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in 1989, and his M.B.A. and B.S. from the University of Montana. His teaching interests include Systems Analysis and Design, Collaborative Computing, and Management Information Systems. Professor Valacich served on the national task forces to design "IS '97: The Model Curriculum and Guidelines for Undergraduate Degree Programs in Information Systems' and "MSIS 2000, the Master of Science in Information Systems" curriculum. He served on the executive committee, funded by the National Science Foundation, working to define IS program accreditation standards and is on the board of directors for the Computing Sciences Accreditation Board (CSAB), representing the Association for Information Systems (AIS). He is the general conference cochair for the 2003 International Conference on Information Systems that will be held in Seattle.

He has conducted numerous corporate training and executive development programs for organizations, including: AT&T, Dow Chemical, EDS, Exxon, FedEx, General Motors, and Xerox. His research interests include Technology Mediated Collaboration and Distance Education. His past research has appeared in publications such as "MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Management Science, Academy of Management Journal, Communications of the ACM, Decision Science, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Applied Psychology," and "Journal of Management Information Systems."
